Refurbished iPad mini ghosting

I purchased a Refurbished iPad mini a few months ago and now it is ghost typing outside of the 30 day warranty period. What is the problem and can a lay person such as myself repair it? Thanks

Do you see any warping in the frame of the device?

janicelovon , Do a factory reset as a first step, as this has cured the ghosting for a lot of devices. Then when you start reintroducing App,s,etc., watch to see which may be affecting your device. If reset does not fix the ghosting you may have a loose connection or failing/faulty digitizer. The 1st link below will show(video) how to open the device so you can reseat connections or change the digitizer glass, 2nd link choose your model, and see detailed written instruction to show how to open device and replacing the display assy. which is a much easier process but naturally cost more. Also find 3rd link to replacement digitizer and 4th link choose your model for quality replacement screen assy. if opt to go that way. If not wanting to tackle the repair stop into a good local cell/computer repair shop for an estimate. Good luck.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Thanks for your response. I did a factory reset and it started ghosting immediately before apps were added. If it is a loose connection or faulty digitizer, is this something that a layperson could repair or does it need a professional repair?

janicelovon, I have updated the answer to include repair method's, thanks for posting back.

janicelovon, press on the digitizer = glass screen at the bottom, on the level of the home button but to the right. If ghosting increases when you press there, it means the cable of the digitizer was pinched between the glass and the frame during a previous repair/refurbishing, and the touch screen must now be replaced.

If the ghosting happens if you touch anywhere equally left of right of the home button, the touch screen is of very poor quality and needs to be replaced too.

Otherwise if it happens randomly, it could be due to a poor quality part or to a drop that damaged it somehow. Or both.
