Is this a temperature sensor issue?
Ok so the issue i am having is when i turn on the system it will run for at most a couple minutes then it gives an overheating message and a single red dot in the middle of the power button. If i turn the system on again it will only run for a couple seconds before doing the same thing again.
The error code i get when i press sync + eject is 0013 (RAM over heating)
I have already disassembled the system, cleaned out the dust and even replaced the thermal paste. But none of that has helped.
The reason i am thinking it could be a sensor issue is the fact that it will run for a minute after its had a chance to cool down but the temperature shouldn't be able to get hot enough to trigger a shutdown because the fan is working perfectly and there isnt a spec of dust in the system.
I also tried cooling it to below room temperature by throwing it in the freezer for a few minutes and after that it ran perfectly for several minutes. I was even able to load a game. But as the system wormed up to room temperature the fan slowly sped up to full speed and then the system "overheated" again.
Im considering attempting to re flow the ram chips with a heat gun but before i do i just wanted to get a second opinion first because i haven't found anyone else with this exact issue.
The system is several years old so warranty long since expired.
Is this a good question?
