Random shutdowns using MacOS Sierra

My late 2013 MacBook Pro 15" Retina MacBook Pro the screen flickers slightly, then 5 seconds later, the computer shuts down. It happens 10-15 's a day and makes it nearly impossible for me to work.

The worst part is, the issue started happening after my warranty expired. Sucks! I have reset the SMC, run Apple Hardware Test, and clean reinstalled Sierra 10.12.2 and it still happens.

I also have Coconut Battery installed and Battery is good, as well as, SMC Fan control. Average temp of CPU is 107 F.

I also observed that it only usually shuts down when I'm connecting to a wireless connection. If I'm off wireless at home, I can usually run all day without a shutdown. I think maybe there is a bad solder or circuit on the motherboard, but don't want to open the Mac myself.

Paid almost 2k for this machine and it's practically useless. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

having same issue with pro 15" retina late 2013.

Started few weeks after sierra installation.

disabled cpu turbo boost, higher fan speed.

maybe, just maybe after a day of heavy use shut downs are less frequent but still exist.

I would try to downgrade to 10.11.

also reset CMS and the other one (forgot its name)...

What will apple care say for this issue? my comp still under warranty.

Can they fix it?

It might be your LVDS cable. Try hitting the clutch cover lightly with your finger tips and then move the screen back and forth really fast. Tell me what happens

Retina systems use iDP not LVDS signaling.

is there any possibility dan, that you could make guides on keyboard repairs for MacBook Pros. I know how to do them, I just don't have a good camera. I don't know how to do retina ones though, I just know that they are a pain

@sherlock_holmes - How about holding off throwing stuff out.

We want people to be involved! But just throwing out stuff without the research or the knowledge. Or general negative comments is not helpful.

We want to support people as much as we can. This site is not a place to be a downer or insult people or their gear choices.
