Why does it keep on saying error formating memory card?

I've tried formating the memory card but it still says error formating memory card.

Have you tried formating the card in any computer? Did it work there?

Check the protect switch on the memory card

by

1) Is the "Lock" switch on the SD card itself on?

2) Can you take pictures and erase them?

3) Can you format the card in a Mac or PC?
