How much ram will an asus s500ca support?

I have two asus s500ca's one with an i5 processer and one with an i3 I was hoping to install some extra ram in both of them and I was wondering what they would both max out at. I've done a few google searches and answers range from 6 to 16 gigs. I was also wondering if they can actually only handle 6 gigs what will happen if I were to put 8 in would it just not use the excess it cant support?

Any help is appreciated thanks!

8gb is the maximum amount of RAM your laptop can handle according to the manual. Not sure what happens if you go over this. Either you will only see 8gb or you will actually see however much you put in. Either way the laptop will work normally (at least it should).
