Broken Dial / Stuck on Bulky

I recently moved my washer and in the process broke the dial that selects the wash cycle. The cycle is stuck on Bulky. I can live with just one cycle but this particular cycle does not allow me to move the spin speed beyond medium. Is there a way to reset the cycle to Normal (Default)? How easy is it to replace the dial?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Christopher Belton , if it is just the dial that needs replaced and the stem that the dial was mounted on is still there, you can carefully turn that dial stem with a payer of pliers(do not damage). In this case you can order a new dial for $10-$20 and push it on. If you have broken the dials mounting peg right off the control board that will be more work and expense. Below are links 1st link is where you can get price on replacement part and 2nd link shows how to access control board to change if needed. Good luck.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Thank you L Pfaff. The stem that connects the knob to the board is broken and the majority seems to be in the knob. I am unable to grab the remaining post that is inside. I want to open up the board and will need to replace the post. I could not find a replacement part # for the post that connects the knob. Any other ideas on reaching the post without damaging or opening the board?

@beltonboys , Christopher, it is unlikely you will be able to by a replacement stem unless you can find a old bad board from scrap yard or a repairman might have one kicking around for parts. What you could try, carefully ids to drill a small pilot hole in the very center of stem large enough to accept a 1 1/2 long machine screw with 2 part epoxy/glue on it, thread in carefully as you do not want to crack the existing plastic post(make pilot hole close to size of screw dia.) and let the glue set up well before trying. You should be able to to use pliers to turn the setting. I hope it works for you.

...That is what I was planning.

I was just nervous the spinning bit will damage the board.

I have also worked the remaining post out from the knob and was thinking the added depth would allow me to connect the broken piece to the stem with a little super glue.

@beltonboys,Christopher, Yes you do not want to slip and also not too deep. In actuality the board is damaged but still working to an extent, you can try gluing the stem back on, I do not see it holding long. Make sure it is good glue for plastics. One more thing, again temporary, would be to cut or melt a slot in the stem that is left in the control board and use a slotted screw driver to turn the control. Good luck.
