@cboleman , Courtney Boleman , Did you have the code cleared after changing the sensor, if not the light could remain on until a certain amount of drive cycles have been done. If the code was cleared, you should have the vehicle scanned again to see if it is indeed the same code coming back or if it is different.

Some of the auto parts suppliers offer free code reading like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts, etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track.

Good luck.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Hi,

You have checked the coolant level, also that the coolant is being pumped through the system, thermostat opening etc? What does the temp gauge on the dash show?

by

Code P0117

Possible causes Low engine coolant level , Faulty Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, Faulty engine coolant thermostat, Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor harness is open or shorted, Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor circuit poor electrical connection
