Switching from PC to Mac

I have been using my WD passport hard drive on a PC laptop and now am switching over to Mac. Even though it has been set up on a PC originally will my passport software work for a macbook? Are there any tricks to switching over and keeping all of my information on my hard drive?

Answer this question I have this problem too

That depends on the file format of your Passport. If it is exFAT, the Mac should both read and write to it. If it is NTFS, the Mac will treat it as read-only.

If it is NTFS, then you need to save your files on another device, reformat the Passport to exFAT, then copy your files back to it.

Connect your Passport to the laptop. Run File Explorer (or File Manager), then locate your Passport. It will probably be Drive D. Right click on the drive and select Properties. A pop-up box will open. Under the General tab, you will see "File System." This should be either NTFS or exFAT.

If I can help more, let me know.
