Delete Key Repeating even when the embedded keyboard is removed
Hi there IFixIt Community, hope you'll doing alright..
Computer: HP Pavilion DV6-1340ek Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits SP1
Problem: Key Repeating detected while no keyboard is connected. (Embedded keyboard physically disconnected by removing band from connector)
Detailed Description: When I switch on the laptop I hear repeating beeps until login screen. I suspected that it was a sticky key issue. Using the software "KeyboardTest" I have IDed it was Delete Key. I cleaned up the embedded keyboard Delete key but the issue still persists. I thought the embedded keyboard was dead. I opened up the laptop and disconnected the embedded keyboard and removed it completely as to get the new one. funnily enough, I plugged in an USB keyboard and switched the laptop on: still the same beeping and the KeyboardTest software pointed out to the Delete Key. For further disgnostic, I removed the USB keyboard, restarted the laptop.. With NO keyboards plugged in I was still hearing the beeps and the KeyboardTest software is still pointing to the Delete Key.
Question: Is a motherboard/BIOS issue or something else? Any ideas as to fix it?
Is this a good question?
