How to replace the USB type-C connector?

Hello everyone,

my son used a micro-USB charger in stead the USB type C one and broke my USB connector.

So, I ordered a replacement an original Nexus 5X USB type C connector (H790) on eBay .

I also completely disassembled the Nexus 5x and can access the motherboard.

Now, I am looking for a tutorial, video, or schema to know how to unsolder the old connector and how to solder the new one.

Could anyone give me help about this?

Thanks a lot,

Xavier

Xavier, See link below, a video tutorial showing how to solder USB port, not the 5x but similar when changing the port. Good luck.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Thanks a lot, it is helpful but I would need a tuto for this specific model (Nexus 5x) to be 100% sure I don't make mistakes cause this video is for micro-USB not USB type C.

Xavier, I had no luck finding the 5X port being replaced in a Vid., sorry. I do believe the method would be the same, line up all the pins, etc.. Good luck with your device.
