It sounds like you may have a bad LVDS cable. It is the one going to the timing control board from the main board. The model number would be very helpful. The earlier vintages used a cable made made up from twisted pares, similar to a cat5 cable, and gave lots of problems. If it has flat ribbon cables, you maybe looking at a timing control board that is getting flaky or a funky main board.

where can i get a new LVDS cable or timing control board

If you had no luck finding any bad caps that fixed the problem, like oldturkey03 suggested, you can look for an LVDS cable on ebay or at shopjimmy. You should verify that the cable is of the twisted pair variety and not a flat ribbon type. the latter doesn't usually case the type of problem you are noticing. But even if it is the flat type, it may be inexpensive enough to make it worth trying.

@pazely sounds like a possibility this is caused by bad caps or IC's. You do want to go ahead and remove the back of your TV set and take a look at the power board etc. to see if there are any visible bad parts. Check for domed or leaking capacitors. If you can, take plenty of pictures of your boards and post those with your answers. Use this guide for that. It will aloow us to see what you see. You may also require a multimeter for some basic checks. Let us know if you have those tools
