great backlighting, and I have sound.

Didn't help me. Mines not on the list but was manu'd around the same time frame. I have great backlighting, and I have sound. I've replaced the t-con board twice from 2 different makers, and the main board as well. Nothing changes with any new piece. I can even unplug the t-con board and power it up and get the exact same result, a backlit 70" gun target. I couldn't wait anymore so I had to buy a new tv, superbowl ya know. Im done with Vizio, but I would like to fix this if it doesn't cost too much more. My man cave could use an upgrade from a 42" to this one. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Update (02/07/2017)

Thanks for replying so fast oldturkey. Its the vizio e701i-a3 70". I've read a dozen articles and watched several youtube videos and nothing anyone suggested has done it. Almost everyone says its just got to be the t-con board. Oh and, i bought a 65" LG 4k and OMG!! Im kinda glad the 70" died before the supbowl, made it easier to convince my wife we needed a newer better one than the 1080p. Lol

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@ratherbbikinnow that's a mighty big target. What model is your Vizio and I do agree with you about not getting one again:-)

@ratherbbikinnow just to clarify. Backlight and sound but no image correct? Does your TV show the (any) menu?

by

That's correct. No menu on screen. I also tried a dvd player, same results.

The only thing left might be the power supply board. Check the connectors and cables going from PSU to mainboard

If you replaced the main board and the T-con, that leaves the panel as the culprit.

I was afraid someone would say that. Could it be any power prongs or what ever those thingys are called at the multi colored wire connections at the power board. Could it be that power board somehow? I have a tester but dont reslly understand how its used.

There are usually markings on the power board. If you have 5 volts and/or 12 volts going to the main/video board, it is not likely that the problems are with the power supply. You have back lighting, so your 24 volt line is good. Unless it is LED back lit, then your supply for that is OK since you have back lighting. (It is much higher than 24 volts.)

so the short answer to your question is; Not likely...
