My phone suddenly stopped charging. Genius bar couldn't fix it. I haven't backed it up in months. If I replace the battery will it turn on so I can get my photos off the phone?

Although the Genius Bar probably tried, I would suggest a higher watt input than USB. Either a Firewire cord, or a wall cord would work.
If that doesn't do it than something is wrong with your phone. Try replacing the Dock Connector. Click through the Guide first to see if you can handle the repair, it is semi-difficult.

What was the reason they gave? I'd guess if it was as simple as swapping the battery they couldve done it. ... They aren't all genius/genii ( whatever the term) sometimes it's just a fella with a job title. Tell us what happened to the phone and maybe you can fixit!
