BLANK screen! Backlight OK, external OK. Sometimes(randomly) works?
Hi all, I've been browsing these forums a bit, any help/tips are appreciated in advance.
Symptoms:
- Blank/BLACK Screen (normally doesn't display images on laptop screen)
- Backlight works (lights up, but all "black."
*Display changes in brightness by using the dimmer/brighter keys (goes from blacker black, to "brighter" black/greyish color.
- Displays images on external monitor without problem.
- SOMETIMES, the laptop screen displays PERFECTLY (all of the sudden, as if resurrected. But then, like a ghost, it is gone, as if I was just imagining it (If I shut it?/adjust screen angle?)
Possible cause
It fell out of my bag when I slipped on some ice running late to work. (Apple care says "sorry, we can fix that for $600-700)
Could it be that there is a connection that is simply loose/damaged? Because it SOMETIMES works. perfectly.
Some ideas i've noticed on this site (but I don't really know how to interpret/evaluate them further, as I am not a computer whiz)
- Logic board connection
- display data cable?
- LCD or display data cable OR inverter?
- Cable that connects LCD to motherBoard?
- Inverter Cable?
- LCD panel?
Any advice on how to proceed/what tools I would need? I'm a college kid, struggling without it! Thanks in advance!)
