JoQuan Cook, Trunk latch may not work properly if debri is blocking the latch or if there is damage to the latch. Clean the latch and lubricate liberally, do the key lock slot while you are at it. Check the latch for damage, if equipped make sure emergency release mechanism is not pulled and stuck on. Check to toggle/lock tongue in the latch mechanism to make sure it is not already flipped to the lock position, if flipped you will have to use a screw driver to flip it back to open position while turning key to unlock. Check to make sure the lower latch/striker has not loosened and moved out of position, not allow alignment or too low to catch with upper latch. If you have checked everything to no avail, some components of these locks are plastic and are known to wear and break and the latch mechanism may need replaced. Take pics of how the latch is installed so you can reference pic's when changing new part. Below is a link to replacement latch which you can also do a d\search on for better pricing or visit a local salvage yard for replacement part. If not comfortable making repair pop into a good local shop and have them install, Approx 1/2 hour labor. Good luck.
