Hope This Helps:

"I think you encountered the issue with a stuck power button. I had the exact same behavior that also went away without explanation to return a few weeks later. I read that one trick is to bang it in a hard surface and shock the button out of its stuck state.

The second time it occurred I actually found a much more gentle way to temporarily fix this. Take an electric tooth brush without brush and push the oscillating shaft onto the backside and side of the phone close to the power button. After a few seconds of that my phone was back in working order".

I tried this and it worked for about 10 minutes. After that it went back to doing the same thing. Second time worked for a shorter period of time and now its not doing it at all. Thanks for a good try.

This has worked for me for now. Didn't have an electric toothbrush but used a motor from my son's toy Alien Autopsy game which could have been tailor made for the job. Will post again if it fails.

The fix worked for a week and then I had to do the same thing again and it worked for a few days again. And then somehow the third time, the fix worked permanently. Haven't had a problem since. I had already ordered a replacement power button but it seems I won't need it.
