have you had to wiggle the charger previously to get it to charge? what is the battery voltage?

Update (01/26/2017)

use a multimeter set to voltage mode. if you have a universal battery charger you could charge it up for 15 minutes or so and that ought to get it up enough to work in the phone again if the voltage being too low is the issue. has to be at least 3.5V to charge in the phone, anything lower and it will not be recognized in the device.
