Screen lighting up and down
My tablet screen goes from bright to very dim and all in-between shades of brightness! Tablet barely a year old...Is this the norm

This is usually an Auto Brightness feature. (Changes lighting based on incoming light) if it does it by random, the light sensor may be too sensitive. two options are common for this issue.
1) Replace the Prox Light Sensor.
2) Turn off the auto brightness feature.
-usually is brightness and display menu.
