@kemisi ,Kerry Simms remove the small interior trim cover opposite of taillight being remove, unplug harness and remove the 2 nuts holding taillight, pop out tail light. Reverse procedure for install. The 1st link shows how to access taillight to enable you to gain access to the mounting bolt/nuts. The second link shows you a clear pic. of the tailight and mounting bolts that nuts must be removed from to remove taillight. The The links below will aid in the removal process. Good luck.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Unfortunately my highlander is an 07, the answer given was for 08 +, thanks for the try!

@kemisi, Kerry Simms, UPDATED, Use the written instructions and the video link in my original answer and you should not have a problem removing taillight. I also posted a link to what the taillight looks like from the back side showing the 2 mounting studs, just click through the different views below the pic. If not comfortable doing this, take into a good shop and have a technician do it for you, approx 1/2 hour labor charge.

First link is worthless, it simply takes you to an advertisement for lightbulbs. It doesn't show you how to remove a tail light assembly, something required if you are attempting to change out a side marker bulb. Second link is also worthless, it just takes you to ebay listing of tailight assemblies.
