no sound from earpiece

after replacing my glass screen and battery on my iphone 3g my ear piece will not work. Here is what I have troubleshot thus far:

-connector 3 seems to be seated ok.

- proximity sensor is working.

-headphone switch is working.

I do get sound through the speakerphone and with headphones plugged in.

Is there a test for the earpiece?

everything else is good. Thanks for your ideas...

I'd suggest you need to replace the ear piece. You can buy them on their own (cheap) or as part midframe( more expensive) there has been a lot of questions recently about this. Have search and see if their solutions help.

so I found the flex cable and speaker parts. Both were inexpensive parts. I first replaced the flex cable that did not solve the problem. I then replaced the earpiece speaker. That did not solve the problem either. After rechecking my work a few times I started having problems with the lcd display connector and LCD flex cable because they have been connected/disconnected so many times. While I haven't spent a ton of money on repairing this device I have spent a ton of time on it and I am unwilling to spend any more time or money on it. I will probably not buy an apple product again because they are so fragile.

Blimey! This is my iPhone- I use it for everything. Have dropped onto concrete from 1m more times than I can count. Its always in my back pocket so gets sat on,child plays with it, I've taken it to pieces to test other phones every other day. The only part I replaced was the display- it's a cheap china part.I bought it with a broken screen and through all the mistreatment I give it, I've never had to fix anything else... This phone will probably outlast me!
