Metal plate holding power supply to motherboard, is it important?

I got an 80GB PS3 to repair, and i noticed the power supply has several metal plates holding it to the motherboard which are screwed onto the curcuit board inside the power supply, in this PS3, they had been broken. Are they important? This is what i mean
