My iMac 27" (Late 2009) seems to be fried. How do I remove the hard drive before I send it in for repair?

Exactly why do you think it is fried? What will it do? Any lights, tones? These 27" machines are a handful to work and most amateurs will break a cable or the logic board video connector. Let us try to diagnose it before you do possible damage.

mmm... Why are you taking the drive out?

Do you not have a backup? Or, is their stuff on it you don't want someone else to have access to?

I tend not to like working on a system without its drive as it does make diagnostics much harder. Many shops wont touch a system without a drive as they can't prove its a working system when you pick it up. Besides, you'll go back in the system to put the drive back in, now it fails is the person who serviced your system going to cover it or are you??

Lets see if we can save your data first. Can you get the system to startup at all?
