Which kit would I need to fix the Embody chair sidearms?

Hi all,

I have seen some youtube videos of people fixing part of the chair.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience and what is the basic set I would need to take it apart (especially the stuff around the sidearms).

I believe it uses Torx / 5 point?

Hi,

You have probably seen this but here is a link to the dis-assembly instructions from the manufacturer.

Not very detailed as to what specific tools are required though.

I had to fix mine, it was not clicking when I pull/push it. With my experience, it can be two problems, when you unscrew the screw on the back of the chair connecting the armrest to the frame itself, the armrest will come off. There is a black rubber piece, connected to the armrest, don’t remove it. Take apart the plate on the front of the arm rest and you will see the inside of the clicking mechanism. In my experience, there is a little nail that keeps the rockerarm in place, if it’s lose, hammer it down but make sure the teeth of the rocker are in place. If that is not the issue, there is another possibility. The rubber price may be lose. So just screw it back in place. Then just put everything back together and that should do it. HOPE THIS HELPS :)

If it is the yoke, it is 2 spring washers under a No. 5 torx head bolt that is very hard to remove after a number of years when those washers finally yield. Herman Miller will tell you to replace the entire yoke assembly, but I'm certain if you can get the nut to loosen up and find some stainless spring washers, you will be back in business. With mine, the nuts seem completely ceased and I will probably have to send it back to the dealer to change the lot since they will not just change the washers.
