Error 9 when restoring

Hi,

got this iPhone 6 Plus off eBay.

It was stuck in a boot loop. I don't know the history but it gives error 9 in Itunes.

I opened it up and since there were scratches on the metal brackets I assume it had been opened before. I think the screen might have been replaced but not sure. The casing has scratches and discoloration at the corners but no dents. Screen is immaculate and that's why I am assuming it was replaced. The long screw looked in the right place.

I tried restoring with the screen disconnected and then with the camera as well disconnected and same error.

Thought I'd ask on here if it's worth replacing the lightning connector or if anyone knows what it might be that's causing this error. I don't understand how it could be the NAND when Apple talks about USB connection issues regarding this error.

I tried all the various Reiboot, Recboot and so on and they don't work.

If anyone could help me, I'd be very grateful. If it can't be fixed very cheaply, I'll just sell it on for parts.

P.S.

I tried the restore on a Windows laptop and a brand new MacBook and same error on both and the USB cable is not faulty either.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Error 9 emmc nand flash issue. Failure to flash to memory. It will be either a short in the pp1v8 /pp1v8 SDRAM or nand failure. Look for a technician that can write Thu underlying data to a new nand serial number WiFi and Bluetooth address and region this will solve the problem

Thanks. How does the NAND get damaged in normal use? Curious.

I assume that it's gonna be expensive so not worth it.

I forgot to say that the error comes up pretty soon, when iTunes tries to "talk" with the iPhone.

Hi Alan. Yes the error is from the first part of the flash process to the emmc band memory. The issue occurs because the underlying data serial number is corrupted. This is matched to the serial number on the CPU/ baseband modem/ and eeprom. The Nand seial number or underlying data is only needed when restoring through the apple server. Normal use will not be affected as it is only a restore conflict. Here In the U.K. I repair this error often and I charge eighty pounds for the 16gb. I am unsure of your location but a repair shop in your vicinity should be capable of this repair. The data must be rewritten.

Yes, but I do see the serial number in iTunes. If it was corrupted, it shouldn't show up right? Also I don't get how it got corrupted in the first place.

I'm in Essex.

you see the serial number from the cpu the nand fault is within the nand memory itself. serial number is stored on the cpu, modem, nand. eeprom flashes the modem and imei is stored on the eeprom. all four must match or you will get a restore error or activation failure. it is a apple safeguard as the encription for the memory is in the cpu
