Hi,

Not certain if the following will work as it is hard to find a replacement LCD screen for a TomTom Via 260.

Did notice however, whilst researching your question, that the digitzer for a TomTom Via 130 is compatible with the 260 so thought that perhaps the screen is as well.

Here are two links to videos that show the removal /replacement of the LCD screen for a TomTom model and how to replace the battery in a TomTom Via 260. Between the two of them you should have a very good idea of what to do to replace the LCD screen.

Unfortunately in this video the model type is not shown. Hopefully it will still be of some benefit, as it shows how to remove the LCD screen flex cable from the motherboard and then the screen from its' housing.

This one shows how to replace the battery in a TomTom Via 260. It is useful as it shows how to open the device to gain access to the internal components.

Here is a link to a supplier of the complete LCD screen/digitizer module for a TomTom Via 130. Hopefully it will be compatible with a Via 260. Given the relatively low price it may be worth the gamble especially if yours is not working at all.

Hopefully this is of some help.

EDIT : forgot to add. if you do decide to do this then remove the battery connection before attempting anything else inside the device. That way except for perhaps physical damage there will be no problems if you "slip" when using tools etc. Replace the battery connection when everything is completed and test before closing the unit in case there is a problem.
