Mirror fell off inside camera. How does it get put back on

I was taking some picture of a friend's horse and I was getting a double exposure. I took the lens off and a mirror fell out. I think I recovered all the parts. How do I repair this problem

The mirror fell to the ground?

Without a second thought, take the camera to a Nikon repair technician to have it replaced. Tell them you need a new mirror. I would doubt that the mirror is still in perfect condition.

Additionally if it tumbled out of the body, I would surmise that there are parts missing that are designed to hold it in position.

My first thought is that this is a warranty repair. Clearly it was not assembled properly.

Warning: Do not attempt repair yourself unless you are a trained professional repair person.

There are many fragile and sensitive parts inside an DSLR camera. Call Nikon's costomer support, and have them repair it.

If you purchased it in the last year, your camera will be under warranty. The warranty will allow you to have it repaired for free.

I'll say it again, DO NOT ATTEMPT REPAIR YOURSELF.
