Why does my iPod only play one song?

My ipod only plays one song and then after the song is done, it will start the next song but it will only play for a few seconds, then it will go to the homepage.

Does this happen with only a particular song or does it happen with any song? My best guess at this time would be to check the music file itself and make sure it is not corrupted. After that I would re-sync my library....hope this helps.

Austin give this a try. It is more common than we think. It appears that this is a software issue on which data to read. The best fix for this is apparently to perform a restart to get it sorted out. I would definitely suggest a hard reset, kind of like turning your computer off and then back on. A hard reset occurs when the iPod reboots. This is what happens when you hold the play and center button down for five to seven seconds. The iPod resets, rebooting with the Apple symbol on the screen. In nine out of 10 cases, this hard reset will fix an iPod skipping songs because it clears out the memory causing it to occur in the first place. If that does not work, try to restore the Ipod to factory settings with Itunes.......nothing to lose. Good luck.

Did anything else happen to it? Is it new?

You, of course, have more than one song on it? Just trying to eliminate the obvious...
