my dvd drive stopped working also,the best thing to do at this point, replace the dvd drive. this is what i am going to do. go to a place where you can return it if it don`t work, not online.

Hi @casernover ,
Most of Acer Aspire E5 laptop models are sold without an optical drive.
You can buy an internal cd/dvd drive to install in your pc or an external driver at a very reasonable price, whichever you prefer.
If you own one already, follow @salmonjapan suggestions.

Hi @casernover, when you access the computer BIOS, can you see your DVD Drive?
You can also start the boot menu F12 when you on the computer , CD/DVD should be on the list, else you could have a defective drive.
You can consider either to replace if it is defective or another option is to get a USB external slim dvd / cd drive
