Hi,

It seems as though the battery is failing on load and needs to be replaced.

Here is a link to the Ifixit guide on how to remove the mainboard in your player. It is handy as by using this guide you will be able to access the battery so that you can remove it.

RCA Opal main board replacement

The battery is shown in Step 9. It has the specifications of McNair 323436 3.7V 350mAH.

The value 323436 means that it is 3.2mm deep x 34mm wide x 36mm long.

Searching online has failed to find a battery of similar dimensions that can be singly ordered. You can get it if you order 1000 batteries though, so obviously not an option.

However I have found this battery, which can be ordered singly, which should work. It has the same voltage and capacity as the original battery, i.e. 3.7V, 350mAH and has the dimensions of 303035 i.e 3.0mm deep x 30mm wide x 35mm long, so it should fit inside your player. As it is slightly smaller than the original you may have to add some foam packing around it to ensure that the battery stays securely in position and doesn't move.

Hopefully this is of some help.
