Why does the phone hit random buttons while in-call?

Hey guys!

I figured I put this question out there but recently got a request to repair a blue iPhone 5c and the phone works fine, tower during calls as well at just in random occurrences, the phone will randomly continue to hit buttons like speakerphone or open apps. The home button has been replaced and the battery was replaced to my best knowledge. Any idea what it could be?

If there are random button "pushes" during calls, then it sounds like the proximity sensor is not working. Was this device repaired recently or has it just started happening out of the blue?

I agree with what Minho has said. The Proximity sensor is the sensor near the top of the phone that tells the screen when to turn on or off during a phone call. This can also be tested with siri. The next time you are in a call try covering up the top half of the phone and see if the screen shuts itself off. If not this is a sure sign of a failing or nonworking proximity sensor.
