do you need to replace the motherboard to replace the audio jack

my friend damaged the audio jack and asked if i could help and im not sure if i would need to replace the motherboard to fix it or not

Hi @arjuna666,

Here is a link to a video which shows how to replace the power port in your laptop. I realize that this is not your problem but the video is handy in that it shows how to open the laptop to gain access the motherboard and therefore the headphone socket.

At 4:17 into the video the headphone socket is clearly seen on the motherboard. It appears as though it will need to be unsoldered from the motherboard and the new one will have to be soldered back on, so you will need soldering tools and expertise to remove and replace the component.
