lgtv 42lg5000 dark on one side then goes ok after 15mins
This is another project ,I have a 42lg5000 tv which when first turned on has a very thin green line vertically on left side and a dark shadow on the right half of screen even though can still see picture there and picture on full screen,
when i leave it on after 10-15 mins and not touched or moved it the picture goes ok and has good picture with being able to watch it all night with no bother .see pics.
The second picture is after 15 mins and stays ok till tv turned off, Then same thing repeats over again next day ,Its as though some chip is ( dodgy ) warming up then works ok but i could be wrong.
Is this a good question?

Hi,
Sounds like there is a loose connection (dry solder joint?) that expands and makes contact as it warms up. You could try using a hot air gun (or dryer) with a fine nozzle (plastic of course), to see if heating different areas on the back of the screen where the problem is can reduce the time it takes to clear thereby pinpointing the exact location. If not the screen then you can go back to the TCON board and do the same thing. It might take awhile especially if it 'disappears' whilst doing this and you cannot make it happen again until it cools down.
Having a mirror in the front of the screen facing toward the back helps, that way you can look at the mirror image of the screen while you are behind it

'''UPDATE :
Didn`t hav a heat gun or hair drier so i cleaned all leads in and out of t con board and the both inverters looked for dry joints and couldn`t find any so put all back together, put back on and have a better result up to now as the shadow and lines down right side has gone but still has the green very thin green single line down the left side .i let tv off for an hour then put it on and lovely clear picture except for thin green line which disapeared after 10 minuites ,still some progress eh .So could it be t con board now i wander.

Hi, Did you also clean the cable connectors on the panel end of the cable between the TCON board and the panel? If you can easily get it out of course.
