getgrt, At one time or another a hard object, eg. a belt may have got left on a pair of pants and the buckle chipped the glass, weakening it and eventually cracked, could also been chipped on the edge when new and not noticed which would have weakened it and all of a sudden broke. Sorry very hard to say what happened for sure, if still under warranty you may have trouble using it, but I would try my darnedest to use it. I googled your problem and it has happened to others also with out explanation, see links 1 and 2 below. Links 3 and 4 are where you can purchase the glass or door assy. and a video to show how to replace the glass. If not comfortable doing repair have a good appliance tech. have a look and estimate repair. Good luck.
