What is this component and will it work without it?

Hello,

I'm trying to fix my logic board to my iPod touch 5. While removing the emi shields, I broke off 2 components and an entire IC. What do they do and will they function without it?

Block Image

The IC is right below the a5 and the 2 components are near the screw hole in the bottom right.

Update:

Maybe it is the Tristar IC?

@gigabit87898 schematics and boardview files are not available for any iPod touch. The only way to determine what the components is would be by getting a replacement board and then trying to measure the part or by harvesting it. That is the reason why you do not see any board level repair on those widely advertised.

Step 21 mentions the IC: iPod Touch 5th Generation Teardown

If you cannot get a schematic/boardview for this model, would recommend buying a dead iPod touch 5 and switching the parts, or getting a donor board for this model. No idea what the component does, but hope this helps :)

Thanks, but I think I tore the pads on the board... If it is a Tristar chip I will just back up my data really quick haha.

The Tristar IC is below the NAND. What you're missing is not the Tristar.
