Went into sleep mode and does not start

The laptop was bought less than a month ago and has been working fine until this afternoon.

I turned it on, the screen to enter password appeared before entering password I clicked on the wifi sign on the right lower corner. The password space vanished, but the screen saver photo remained in full screen. I put the lid down because I thought that when I would lift it the password space would re-appear. Instead the lap top went into sleep mode (the light on the right side still blinks) and the screen was black.

I tried to start the computer but nothing happened.

I connected the power cord and plugged it. Still nothing happened and neither the battery light turns on.

I kept the start button pressed for 30'' and tried to restart (with and without plugging in) but still the lap top remains in sleep mode (light is blinking).

Hi,

This happened exactly on 2 Asus UX310 zenbooks I bought for my kids.

In short, I had to take it back to the supplier for them to open the laptop and remove the battery in order to reset/restart the machine.

Another option is to wait until the sleep mode finally drains the battery and you can try plugging the power back in and turning it back on.

Once fixed, you can DISABLE sleep mode on ALL power settings. Just elect to have the machine shut down.

cheers

Many thanks.

These were exactly the solutions that I tried the two times that this occurred to me. The first time I sent it to the dealer and they did what you describe. The second I let the battery drain (it takes time though). I shall follow you advice and disable sleep mode, because it seems that the problem can not be fixed for good.
