iPhone 5c Touch screen partially unresponsive after screen replacement

The iPhone's glass has been heavily broken with multiple cracks all over the surface after it's been thrown to the wall. Ever since that spontaneous crash test, the device has yet been in use for about a year (a scotch tape has been applied to the glass which allowed for patient use). The touch screen did not recognize touches in certain areas, specifically, touches on certain (constant) letters on a displayed keyboard. Swiping problems were also the case. Yesterday I finally bought the screen replacement module and did the replacement. After it's been done, I saw the very same touch problems in the same areas of the screen. It is impossible to press certain letters, like "h" or "n" and some others. Other than that - I see no other problems, such as ghost pressings, or blinking. I read another thread on ifixit with the similar problem and tried many of the described fixes but none of them worked (cleaning the connectors from debris, which btw I really found in there, cleaning with alcohol, protecting from static electricity where possible on the front side, hard reset). I didn't try to unplug the battery though.

I find it strange that with the new lcd and glass, the unresponsive areas are just the same as with the old broken screen. Probably, the strike on the wall has been too strong, and something else must have been damaged.

Anyway, did anybody have the same and does anybody have fixing ideas? Thank you!

The first thing to try would be to remove the screen and clean the contacts, for the ribbon cable carefully, the pins are very delicate, take a close look at the pins to see if any are bent, broken or missing. The fact that the screen seems unresponsive in th same locations as the old screen would indicate dirty connections, or just coincidence that the new screen is faulty too.

The problem was in a touch-screen controller chip. It needed to be resolded, or more precisely the new chip needed to be put in place. After that was done, I got working screen. The cost of the screen module together with the new controller and work amounted to $147.
