Can I retrieve lost data after I disrupt in process of recovery wizard

Hi Everybody!

I would like to recovery C driver only but I choose incorrectly to start recovery wizard after launch VAIO Care Rescure.

After select start recovery wizard -> skip rescure my data -> click to "Yes , I am sure" in "are you sure you want to start recovery ?" to start recovery -> preparing in about 8 seconds -> until this moment when recovering to 2%. I realized that It's my mistake when i have to select to Tools -> start advanced recovery wizard to recovery only C driver instead selecting "start recovery wizard". In process of recovering, there is no cancel button to escape this process so I am proactive to press down Power button for a while to turn off my laptop.

When I press the ASSIST button while your computer is off to launch

VAIO Care Rescue -> Tools -> start advanced recovery wizard -> skip rescure data -> in select recovery type window, I realize in current state is only 2 partition (Partition1 has 10.3 GB , Unallocated space is all memory left (>280GB)) so it is seem not correct compared to my last drivers memory states (my C driver: 80GB, D driver: 200GB).

So my question is :

1. Whether is all my important data stored in D driver is lost because

when i see select recovery type window, I don't see D driver exist ???

2. if it lost, can I retrieve all my data in D driver ?

3. If yes, can you tell me how to retrieve my data?

Thanks so much,

Hoang Nguyen Le.

@hoang_nlhut can you remove the hard drive and connect it to a different computer with an external storage shell or something similar like this. You may then be viewable there when not shown through the OS. If this brings no joy you may have to resort to a data recovery program and do a recovery on the disc as a whole and then you will have a lot of data to sift through as most recover everything including deleted files . Hope this helps

@jimfixer : Thanks a lot. I'll give it a try.

And I have one question that I would like to ask you.

Because I have 2 same model sony vaio laptop units. so if I remove the hard driver of the laptop has the issue and plug to replace to hard driver of the other that works well to check the data . is that OK to check that if the data was lost in other laptop?

I asked you the way i said above because now i don't have the cable that you suggested to me.

Thanks so much.

you will end up with the same problem . you need to recover from a different operating system . the OS is on the drive so you need to connect the drive to be read only . This is done by booting from another drive So no just replacing the hard drive from one like computer(chipset). to another wont work. you could use the sata connector thats in the machine for the optical drive If you can get to it . It would be easier just to go to your local computer shop and get a cable or external hard drive enclosure
