Trackpad unresponsive on half of trackpad

I recently replaced the keyboard, battery and trackpad on a macbook pro 15" mid-2009 unibody. The keyboard and battery work fine, but I am finding issues with the track pad.

The trackpad is able to click, but it is unresponsive to mouse movement in the upper half of the trackpad. I can only move it left and right if I use the upper half of the trackpad. I am able move the cursor in any direction on the lower half.

I have tried adjusting the main clicker screw, but I don't belief that to be the issue because it's able to click anywhere on the trackpad just fine.

The mounting screws are tight in their place.

I think I received a bad part, but I want to explore all the options before returning the part.

I replaced the cable with a spare, same issue. I believe it's either a bad part or the logic board itself is somehow damaged. Thank you for your answer!

The click plate adjustment only effects the click function nothing more.

Sounds like you got a bad part or the connection to the logic board is having problems. Inspect the ribbon cabe to make sure there is no damage (tear) and the connection is firmly seated.
