Can I upgrade ASUS K501UX ram?
my ASUS K501UX i7 is running a little low on ram at 8gb for the video editing aplications I am running is there any way I could upgrade it?

The laptop uses one Ram slot where you now have one 8 GB Ram installed if a 16 GB ram module works with the laptop chipset and CPU then you could change the module. But google before to see if others have managed this. Otherwise ask the dealer if you can give the module back to him if it does not work on your laptop.

you have 4GB on main board, and 4GB in the slot. You can change this 4GB to 8GB, then you will have 12GB - this is the maximum for that notebook.
