Phone was manufactured reset and will not complete set up

Phone was manufacturer reset and when I get to the Google section it states " this device was reset. To continue sign in with a Google account that was previously synced on this device" however my son does not remember his email he used so we are not able to continue to set up his phone. What do I do?

Hi,

Google has locked your son out of his device for 72 hours as a safeguard against theft of his device. They have put in place a 72 hour count-down timer for recovery. Google, should have sent him an email every time a significant event occurs on his account. Check your son's emails and look for the last change in password or change in two-step authentication, etc. Check the time/date stamp on that email. That is when the clock started. If you continue to "play" with your device, you may wind up resetting that timer, so best you just turn it off and set it aside for three days (72 hours minimum). After 72 hours and one minute, you should be able to regain access to your phone. No factory reset is required.
