Not sure of your tablet but with no apps opened from the home screen go to Settings > Apps > slide? to show running apps and see how many apps are actually in use. Especially check for 'downloaded apps' if they are running (do not get confused and check in the downloaded section of apps settings) as they may be slowing your startup. If you find downloaded apps check their settings to find out if they need to run on startup. Do not stop any system apps. If you are unsure about what the app does Google it to find out.
