Hi @Candy Dodson2012

What is the model number of the TV?

Have you tried removing the batteries from the remote control to see if the problem stopped, you didn't say?

Hi,

Try removing the batteries from the TV's remote control unit to see if it is a sticking or faulty input button on the remote control causing the message to appear.

Are you using another remote control in the room to control something else, like a DVD player or DVR etc. when this happens? If so, check to see if this may the cause of the message appearing.

It may also be that you have a faulty input selection button on the TV intermittently making contact, causing the message to appear.

Update (11/16/2016)

Hi,

Are you connected to HDMI1 or HDMI2? If it is HDMI 2 try using HDMI 1 as it doesn't have the ARC feature (Audio Return Channel) which may be causing problems with your Sky box. Obviously if you are using HDMI1 then this doesn't matter.

As you have eliminated most of the possible 'hardware' causes of your problem. I'm thinking that it must be software related.

Looking through the User guide for your TV I have found some items of interest.

1. In Setup > Display Settings > Input labels, select 'skip' for the inputs that you are not using and see if this makes a difference.

2. In Setup > Link Settings set CEC and Power Off Link to 'off' , if they are not already set that way.

3. In the Timer section > Auto Standby try setting it to 'off'

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I have removed and replaced all batteries to all remotes, even taking the remotes completely out of the room, but the sensor button on the front of the tv is still flashing as if someone is using a remote. The input selection screen is still coming up and every so often it will change input by itself!!!!! So annoying. Have even gone so far as to remove sensor on tv to check it is clean but this has not solved problem. I am only using HDMI lead and have only got Sky HD box connected. Have even had a look at control buttons on side of tv but nothing seems to be working.

Tv is a Panasonic Viera

Hi, Can you disconnect the flex cable which connects the button strip on the side of the TV away from either the strip end or the circuit board to which it goes. You need only remove one end. This is only to eliminate the button strip as a possible cause of the problem. If it stops then the strip is the problem, if it continues we need to look further. As it is on the side, hopefully this should not affect the IR sensor so you should be able to turn on the TV using the remote.

Be careful when you do this, ensure that the TV is totally disconnected from the power outlet and that you carefully check to see how to remove the cable from the connector. You do not wish to break the cable or the connector.

The connectors can vary, some have a hinged locking bar that needs to be raised so that the cable just gently pulls out, others will just come out if you pull gently. Take a picture of the connection before you remove it so that when you go to replace it you will insert it in the correct way. They mostly have a stripe down one side but not always.

Sorry if you know all this just trying to cover all bases.

Also really stupid thought but you do not have any CFL lights in the room and this happens when they are turned on by any chance?

Hi,

Thank you so much for continuing with ideas i am at my wits end!!! Have checked the flex cable and removed the button strip on the side of the TV all to no avail.

Have heard the theory of various lights in room affecting tv but this is not the problem either.

My Visio tv has the cable box input icon froze at the top. My volume won’t work on my spectrum remote when it does this. Nothing will work on my Visio remote when this happens. So sick of it I have tried everything

Video control IC may be over heating, I was reading about it, and you can try to adjust brightness and contrast lower, or add heatsink to that IC. I have not tried it yet, I have same issue with Panasonic, menu popping on screen and output is changing. I disabled all other inputs except HDMI 2, hopefully it helps…
