The camera would not move to the desired mode whenever i slide it from the playback mode and the same happens when I try to slide from camera to playback, sometimes it gets stuck a video mode when I try to switch to camera mode. What should I replace to fix this problem?

Found this info while looking through some forums. The sliding switch/button on the camera mates with a switch soldered to a flat ribbon cable inside the camera. There are two small teeth which move the internal switch left or right which are probably worn or broken.
There is a slight possibility there is dirt/dust also built up on under side of switch that can be cleaned to function properly(clean with soft cloth/small brush and a little 90% Isopropyl Alcohol). Link to video below is not in English but is all I found for partial tear down which should get you to the select switch.
As far as a replacement switch, best to search E bay, Amazon or maybe a local camera shop has one available for parts or can advise on part/repair or contact Canon 2 nd link.
