How to replace the mini usb connection

Hi. The mini USB port on my Lenovo tablet has been damaged and the device no longer charges. Any advice on how to replace it and where to buy the part?

Hi,

Is Lenovo S8-50 the model number of your tablet?

If so here is the service manual for your tablet.

https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mob...

It details the dis-assembly of the tablet so that you can gain access to the micro USB charging port pcb so that you can replace it.

Here is the part number for the pcb, 5P69A6N2YX, and just one supplier of the part.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5P69A6N2YX-Len...

As you can see it is not cheap. You may wish to search online for other suppliers, just type the part number only into the search box of your browser to obtain results.

If it is only the port connector itself that is damaged and hopefully no other components on the pcb, then perhaps you should look for a compatible micro USB connector and de-solder the old connector off the pcb and solder the new one in its place.

If you have neither the tools or skills to do this then take your tablet to a reputable, professional mobile phone or laptop repair service and ask for a quote to perform the job.

Hopefully this is of some help.
