Not charging while connected, dead

I've recently replaced a few parts to my 5S after it took a dive in a bucket of water and didnt work for a month. New battery, LCD digitizer assembly and home button assembly. Our not so old cable decided it had enough of our two year old yanking it out of the phone and started to short out unless at a certain angle...ugh. Today it finally died and after my lifeless phone got a new charger, it will not charge and shows the icon that it needs plugged in, while plugged in. I've also tried the car charger and no luck

Answer this question I have this problem too

Does the phones logic board show any signs of corrosion? If so, try brushing it with a 90+ isopropyl alcohol

Actually it doesn't, I did a thorough cleaning of the whole phone after the water damage occured, before I replaced the parts I mentioned. I'm wondering if the replacement battery I installed malfunctioned because of the lightening cable that was going bad or if the cable burned out the charging port? How could I know for sure what needs replaced? I've tried the hard reset trick that works for most people and left it plugged in undisturbed overnight but now the needing plugged in indicator is not showing up at all now. Ugh
