What chip is this/LCD backlight issue

Hello.

I spilled water on my macbook and got the basic liquid cleaning done by a local service. However that didn't resolve the problem, since my display on my macbook stopped working after the water damage. The apple logo isn't lightning up as well. The macbook works completely fine connected via HDMI and all GPU and CPU benchmarks were normal.

The LCD itself seems to be working, since if I light on it with a flashlight i can clearly see every pixel.

I gave the notebook to my technician friend who repairs small electronics, he changed the LCD Flex cable, which didn't help to get the Retina backlight to start working.

He took a picture of a completely fried chip that is as he says 15mm from the LCD hinge or something like that. I am including a picture. He has got the equipment needed to change just this part, but he needs the description of the fuse/chip/connector to know where and what to order.

Thanks for any replies guys.

maxatomas any chance you can post an image that was taking straight down to the board? Things are hard to identify when they are distorted by angle shots.

maxatomas not sure what you are referring to in your picture. The connector is for the keyboard backlight cable. It is a AA07A-S010-VA1 connector and Apple part number is 516S0899. It will not be easy to source it

Thank you for the quick answer, i am putting the device in for servicing this week at a place that specializes in motherboards. This time to a different place, since one service quoted me the display repair, while this seems to be largely a motherboard issue?

I have some more pics, if you wouldn´t mind judging the situation by a trained eye and maybe list the components that are broken(for them to be ordered).

Do you think this macbook can still be repaired?

Thanks,

Tomas.

There appears to be a lot of dust and other junk. Without more clear images of the entire logic board it would be hard to say.

Clearly, you have a problem with this connector which is blown to bits. Other parts of the power logic is likely effected here as well (the screens backlight).

maxatomas looks like you are having issues with your display connector as well. You got a long way ahead of yourself for any repair. Clean the board replace the connectors and check the components like the backlight fuse etc.
