Why the battery icon holds red light when connected to the electricity

I have been trying to turn on this device, but nothing happens. I also tried, to reset it by holding the mute button, but still, it does not work. I let the speaker for the night charging, but it didn't work. I am presuming it is a fake product.

Options

Unplug it ---hold down the mute button till all lite flash --turn it off--then on again--might need to do it a couple times--gotta erase the memory
