Charging Socket with 4 padded connectors

I managed to find replacement lightning charging sockets for the Beats Pill Plus however after removing the existing charging socket I found 4 of the contacts covered with a Brownish Orange padding. I am attempting to fix the charging socket due to someone shoving a mini-USB cable into it and destroying all but one pin. On the back of the charging socket that connects to the board are 10 connectors 6 of which are clean and seem to mate with the boards connectors. 4 of them on the charging socket have some type of padding and the pins on the board seem to be slightly recessed. My vision isn't as good as it used to be so even using a magnifying glass so I'm having trouble making a positive decision. I'm wondering if the 4 contacts are covered for a reason and I need to place the same type of protection on the new charging socket that will be replacing the broken one? Has anyone seen this method done or is this padding I'm referring to just some excess adhesive however its only on these pins and nowhere else on the charging socket.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi Clandestine,

I have the same problem as you do, and I'm one step back from where you are. I've removed the charging port assembly which plugs into the circuit which also houses the USB and 3.5mm input jack. Could you please tell me where you found the lightning charging socket for your Beats Pill Plus?

Once can get my hands on it, I'm willing to go further and experiment, and I'll get back to you if I have any success.

Thank you very much!

Keshav
