One line of screen unresponsive

Hi,

I am having problems with touch in my phone. Touch doesn't respond properly when clicking any app icon or when texting. The same is the case with Home and Back buttons also. It needs to be touched twice or thrice for the touch to respond.

I did this line drawing test on my phone and saw that there was a row (about the center my phone) which was unresponsive though I was able to draw vertical lines along that area.

Could this be due to a software or a hardware problem? If it is due to a hardware problem, would it be possible to change the digitizer alone and not the entire display unit as the display is intact?

Options

If your phone is under warranty then you can simple send it to care centre for repair. If it is out of warranty then try various methods to fix it such as clear app cached data, delete miscellaneous app and data from phone, hard reset, flash your phone with stock rom.
