Dead iPod Classic- gets stuck a "do not disconnect"

Hey, I just found my old iPod classic late 2009 160gb model and decided to start using it again, however after I plugged it into my pc to charge it went to a black and white "do not disconnect" screen. I left it like this over night and it stayed the same. I restarted it (holding down the menu and center button) it booted with the apple logo and then went back to the same screen. I then tried to enter diagnostic mode (restarting and then holding the center and back button) and this did not work, it didn't go into diagnostic mode but continued to go back to the same screen. I checked in device manager and it told me that the device was working properly. And help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Sounds to me like you might need to reinstall the firmware using iTunes. Open iTunes if you have it installed then plug in your device and iTunes should detect it and offer you to restore the device.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that it isn't being detected by iTunes either. Tried it both on my mac and my pc
